Another possible alternative is to simply open up the ISO or image file to extract the contents directly. This workaround will work on most data CD/DVD except Audio CD, Video CD and DVD movie. In fact, if you have popular CD and DVD image file processing tool such as PowerISO, UltraISO, and even compression and extraction utility such asWinRAR, you can already unpack and extract the contents of ISO image file easily.

In jazz and blues, a blue note (also "worried" note^[1]) is a note sung or played at a slightly lower pitch than that of the major scale for expressive purposes. Typically the alteration is a semitoneor less, but this varies among performers and genres.

The existence of the blue note within African-American music ultimately derives from the fact that the equal temperament utilised in western diatonic harmony is an artifice or compromise originally employed in the eighteenth century to address the problems posed in the creation of keyboard instruments. Equal temperament was an artificial 'straightening out' of a tendency for thenatural harmonic series (musical intervals as they exist in nature) to go off at a tangent, meaning that higher intervals and octaves in their natural form are of a different pitch than the lower intervals and octaves. This made it difficult to create keyboard instruments which were 'coherent'. Hence the blue note is an attempt to correct this artifice by playing a note that is closer to the interval as it exists in the natural harmonic series. Country blues, in particular, features wide variations from the diatonic pitches with emotive blue-notes. Blue notes are often seen as akin to relative pitches found in traditional African work songs.

Like the blues in general, the blue notes can mean many things. One quality that they all have in common, however, is that they are flatter than one would expect, classically speaking. But this flatness may take several forms. On the one hand, it may be a microtonal affair of a quarter-tone or so. Here one may speak of neutral intervals, neither major nor minor. On the other hand, the flattening may be by a full semitone--as it must be, of course, on keyboard instruments. It may involve a glide, either upward or downward. Again, this may be a microtonal, almost imperceptible affair, or it may be a slur between notes a semitone apart, so that there is actually not one blue note but two. A blue note may even be marked by a microtonal shake of a kind common in Oriental music [sic].
The degrees of the mode treated in this way are, in order of frequency, the third, seventh, fifth, and sixth.

The blue notes are usually said to be the flattened third, flattened fifth, and flattened seventh scale degrees.^[3] The flatted fifth is also known as the sharpened fourth.^[4] Though the blues scale has "an inherent minor tonality, it is commonly 'forced' over major-key chord changes, resulting in a distinctively dissonant conflict of tonalities".^[4] A similar conflict occurs between the notes of theminor scale and the minor blues scale, as heard in songs such as "Why Don't You Do Right?."

In the case of the flattened third over the root (or the flattened seventh over the dominant), the resulting chord is a neutral mixed third chord.

Blue notes are used in many blues songs, in jazz, and in conventional popular songs with a "blue" feeling, such as Harold Arlen's "Stormy Weather." Blue notes are also prevalent in English folk music.^[5] Bent or "blue notes", called in Ireland "long notes", play a vital part in Irish music.^[6]

Blue Note Records is an American jazz record label, established in 1939 by Alfred Lion and Max Margulis. Francis Wolff became involved shortly afterwards. It derives its name from the characteristic "blue notes" of jazz and the blues.

Originally dedicated to recording traditional jazz and small group swing, from 1947 the label began to switch its attention to modern jazz. While the original company did not itself record many of the pioneers of bebop, significant exceptions are Thelonious Monk, Fats Navarro and Bud Powell.

Historically, Blue Note has principally been associated with the "hard bop" style of jazz (mixing bebop with other forms of music including soul, blues,rhythm and blues and gospel). Horace Silver, Jimmy Smith, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, Art Blakey, Lou Donaldson, Donald Byrd and Grant Greenwere among the label's leading artists.

Espen Eriksen Trio is a Norwegian jazz piano trio formed in 2007, consisting of Espen Eriksen (piano), Lars Tormod Jenset (double bass) and Andreas Bye (drums). The trio have released two albums on the Norwegian record-label Rune Grammofon. They have performed at Molde Int. Jazz Festival, Oslo Jazzfestival, Maijazz and Vossajazz in Norway and Penang Jazz Festival in Malaysia, in addition to several club performances in Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain and Malaysia.

Nu jazz is an umbrella term coined in the late 1990s to refer to music that blends jazz elements with other musical styles, such as funk, soul,electronic dance music, and free improvisation.[1] Also written nü-jazz or NuJazz, it is sometimes called electronic jazz, electro-jazz, e-jazz,jazztronica, jazz house, phusion, neo-jazz, future jazz or jazz-hop.

According to critic Tony Brewer,


Nu Jazz is to (traditional) Jazz what punk or grunge was to Rock, of course. [...] The songs are the focus, not the individual prowess of the musicians. Nu Jazz instrumentation ranges from the traditional to the experimental, the melodies are fresh, and the rhythms new and alive. It makes Jazz fun again.

Overview

Nu jazz ranges from combining live instrumentation with beats of jazz house (exemplified by the French St Germain, the German Jazzanova and the British Fila Brazillia) to more band-based improvised jazz with electronic elements (such as that of The Cinematic Orchestra from the UK, the Belgian PhusionCulture, Mexican duo Kobol, and the Norwegian "future jazz" style pioneered by Bugge Wesseltoft, Jaga Jazzist, Nils Petter Molvær, and others).

Nu jazz typically ventures farther into the electronic territory than does its close cousin, acid jazz (or groove jazz), which is generally closer to earthier funk, soul, and rhythm and blues, although releases from noted groove & smooth jazz artists such as the Groove Collective, and Pamela Williams blur the distinction between the styles. Nu jazz can be very experimental in nature and can vary widely in sound and concept. The sound, unlike its cousin Acid Jazz, departs from its blues roots and instead explores electronic sounds and ethereal jazz sensualities. Nu Jazz "is the music itself and not the individual dexterity of the musicians."[2] Often, Nu Jazz blends elements of traditional Jazz texture with that of modern electronic music and free improvisation, thus, the music can truly evolve into a multitude of sounds and can vary greatly from artist to artist. The style can include broken rhythms, atonal harmonies, and improvised melody.[3][4] Matthew Shipp and others demonstrate styles coined as "jazztronica" or "electro-jazz".[4]

Nu jazz has its roots in the use of electronic instruments in production in the 1970s work of such luminaries as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Ornette Coleman. Hancock's early 1980s work with Bill Laswell, in particular, such as the album Future Shock, anticipated the style in its incorporation of electro and hip-hop rhythms. Beginning in the late '80s, many hip-hop musicians worked in the jazz rap style—among them, Gang Starr, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, and Nas. Also in the 1980s, many house musicians took inspiration from jazz, particularly post-bop andjazz funk.
In the mid-'90s and early 2000s, musicians from the downtempo scene, St Germain, DJ takemura, Perry Hemus and Jazzanova among them, began to delve more deeply into jazz. In the same period, intelligent dance music producers—most famously Squarepusher and Spring Heel Jack, and later London Elektricity and Landslide -- took a similar interest. Techno musicians, such asLaurent Garnier, Carl Craig and his Innerzone Orchestra project, have also touched on nu jazz. Some figures from the digital hardcore and breakcore scenes, notably Alec Empire, Nic Endo, andVenetian Snares, have explored a harder, noiser variant on the style. A decade later, some dubstep producers, such as Boxcutter, also explored electronic jazz.

While still embracing the traditional forms of jazz, pianist Bugge Wesseltoft and trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær are known for their improvisational nu jazz style. The Cinematic Orchestra is also known for incorporating a traditional jazz band while fusing electronic elements into their music production.[2] St. Germain, a purveyor of nu jazz music, has sold 1.5 million copies of his Touristalbum, thus making it the top-selling jazz album in the United States.[5]

Thirsty Ear is a record label which released recordings by many nu jazz artists. These include William Parker, Antipop Consortium, Tim Berne, Meat Beat Manifesto, Sex Mob, Nils Petter Molvaer, Matthew Shipp, Craig Taborn, DJ Spooky, and Spring Heel Jack.

Nu Jazz is also often associated with Ninja Tune, as many nu jazz artists are signed with this music label. Artists signed to Ninja Tune include The Cinematic Orchestra, Funki Porcini, The Herbaliser, Jaga Jazzist, Pest, Skalpel, and Up, Bustle and Out.
